Route #014

I did a jaunt from my office to the mountain bike park and back. I wanted to know how long it would take and I remembered my odometer this time. Whoohoo! So now everyone will know how slow I pedal.

Route #014
Distance: 17.98 miles +/- 0.25 miles
Travel Time: 1:24:00
Level of Difficulty: (1:easy - 5:hard) 3

Some notes on the ride
- Absolutely perfect weather, slight head wind or none at all on the way to the park
- One stop during ride: At the mountain bike course I wasn't trying to kill myself but a fire ant was doing its best to kill me or at least my ankle. I stopped, killed the ant, and went about my day.

Time for some numbers
I calibrated my odometer on the way to the mountain bike park and on the way back. I compared against the mile markers that go around Lake Hefner. On the way there I showed I was within 0.02 miles of what the markers said. Groovy. On the way back I actually recorded those numbers. Also, somewhere along the dam on the way to the park by meter came off and wasn't recording for maybe about a 1/4 of a mile. So that is my I said 17.98 miles +/- a quarter.

Bluff Creek (one "casual" lap)
Mileage/time @ start: 5.73/24:30
Mileage/time @ end: 9.88/49:19

So Bluff Creek is almost 4 and a quarter miles by my amateur measurements.

On the way back I calibrated against the mile markers. Here are some of those measurements:

Mile Marker / My mileage
6 / 11.92
6.5 / 12.4 <-- did not take loop at the base of the dam, so mileage is slightly off
7 / 12.88
8 / 13.88 <--exactly a mile
8.5 / 14.37 <--pretty darn close to 1/2 a mile difference

Good times. Gonna do it again when I need to take a long lunch. heheheh

Cheers,
