First Ride of the Year

Last year I think my first ride of the year wasn't until January 21st; I rode the trail that follows the North Candian River along I-40.  I only got to ride 8 miles of it before I got a splinter flat.  My buddies had to pedal back to my truck and come pick me up.  I did jog another 3-4 miles back towards the truck before they picked me up.  But I have no idea if that jog distance was completely accurate.  I tend to lie about distances.

This year I got out on the 19th [sarcasm] beating my previous record [end sarcasm] by 2 whole days!  I went around Lake Hefner and back.  It felt good.  It was still good and cold and it even rained on me 1/2 of the ride.  The tights were nice.  My co-workers all approved that I looked stunning.  And even though it was raining I was not the only crazy person out around the lake.  I don't recall the temperature but I just had on tights, some mountain biking shorts, short sleave jersey, and no gloves (couldn't find'em that day).  Everything went great.  With the slight wind and slight rain I could have used a long sleave jersey but it was great.

Next year I'm shooting for 18th of January.  Year after that I'd like to do a January 1st ride.  HAHAHA!!  Can't overshoot it, ya know?
